There will be a mapping of large-scale national R&D programmes across the eight Med. Countries, which will reflect the national priorities and investments. The results will be compared with the statistical data of the participation of Med. countries in previous FPs, in order to determine whether the national priorities (as expressed in R&D Programmes) are being reflected in their participation in the FPs.

 
A database / directory will be created, consisting of the profiles of key-players/organisations identified in the mapping activity. This Directory will be promoted among the key players’ potential counterparts across Europe.
 

There will be a significant amount of awareness and dissemination activity through the development of this website but also through the publication of an e-newsletter – one for dissemination for the appropriate target groups in Med. Countries, which will be prepared and distributed by each Med. National Contact Point (NCP) to its national target group(s) on a quarterly basis, and one prepared by the coordinator, which will include news and activities of all Med. NCPs and will be distributed to relevant European NCPs for them to disseminate to their national target groups. A project leaflet will also be produced as well as a short guide including useful tips and the rules for participation in FP7 for distribution to the target groups of the MPCs.

 

Through the mapping exercise a comparative study/report will be prepared which will reflect the participation of each Med. country in the Framework Programmes. This participation will be compared with a) the on-going or completed national programmes which reflect the national research priorities and b) the participation in several research Programmes/projects funded by other international initiatives such as the United Nations or EUMEDIS.

 

Eight national events will be organised to launch FP7 - one per Med. Country. Thematic Workshops will also be planned, focusing on the Specific Thematic area(s) of FP7 according to the national priorities of each Med. Country.

 

An assessment report will also be prepared on the social, cultural and practical conditions of scientific support across the eight MPCs to assist the European Commission in designing more effective tools for the implementation of its RTD policies in the Med. Region.
